Storing a value is not enough when a result must defend where it came from, under which query it appeared, and whether another machine can repeat it.

THE TENSION

The durable log must retain authority while indexes, queries, and views remain rebuildable, budgeted, and verifiable.

It is not a cognitive runtime, hosted SaaS, or distributed SQL database. TLS, encryption, and distributed operations belong to the integrator.

Deliver useful, progressive HTML without turning the runtime into a black box or separating the interface from its build receipt.

Public release 0.0.2 remains pre-1.0; Linux is the production target and Windows remains a development target.

THE PROBLEM

The cascade is powerful, but its semantic conflicts, migrations, and transformations are often absent from the artifact that reaches the browser.

THE TENSION

Keep ordinary static CSS while analysis, typed authoring, and evidence share a deterministic core that fails closed.

    The parser preserves provenance and exposes compatibility, risk, and diagnostics.

    Rust authoring crosses a semantic core with explicit conflicts.

EVIDENCE

Release candidate 0.1.0-rc.2 publishes nineteen exact-version crates as one compatibility unit.

BOUNDARY

It remains a public preview; a static finding is not WCAG certification, and reversible adoption does not promise full parity with other toolchains.

A local model can propose a useful answer, but it should not select its own authority, approve its own execution, or hide why it abstained.

THE TENSION

Separate proposal, knowledge, governance, and proof without collapsing all four authorities into the model.

    MARS interprets the question and drafts a candidate; it does not authorize it.

    Hyphae retrieves versioned knowledge and exact evidence.

    HiveMind governs permissions, budgets, verification, and abstention.

    The receipt preserves the source-to-answer path or the rejection.

EVIDENCE

The governed runtime records 20/20 suites; MARS-1 Q4 measured 50.2 tok/s with a 3,098 MiB peak on an 8,151 MiB GPU.

BOUNDARY

MARS has not been released as a product. The Q4 corpus failed its source-pointer gate at 86.1% against a 99% minimum, and promotion was rejected.

ACT IV / FAULT LINES

Building means choosing what not to collapse.

The important complexity appears when two valuable things push in opposite directions. My work is to make that tension explicit and design a boundary that can be inspected.

MEMORY / FORGETTING

How can continuity persist without turning everything that happened into permanent authority?

Memory is versioned, decays, preserves provenance, and distinguishes durable record from momentary context.

AUTONOMY / AUTHORITY

How can a system act without being allowed to approve itself?

Proposal, authorization, execution, and verification belong to distinct authorities.

SPEED / PROOF

How can performance improve without replacing evidence with a claim of speed?

Every optimization retains a measured case, an environment, a boundary, and a reproduction path.

CINEMA / ACCESS

How can wonder exist without hijacking scroll, focus, or comprehension?

Choreography is a progressive layer: legible HTML, reduced motion, keyboard access, and fallback remain first.
ACT V / RESEARCH

The result includes what it does not prove.

A useful paper does not end at the number that looks good. It preserves method, negatives, cost, scale, and the exact point where inference must stop.

Proprioceptive channels as a perpendicular control axis

RESULT

Under direct conflict, the channel determined 264 of 265 frozen-base cases and replicated from scratch on 88.8% of 455 counterfactual pairs.

LIMIT

Toy scale: 110M models and one iteration. It does not demonstrate general capability or validity at scale.

RESULT

The quotation-plus-journal layer detected and localized 100% of store-only tampering in the minimal benchmark.

LIMIT

The result is not Hyphae-specific; a chain-aware adversary requires an external anchor.
